CURRANT

Currant family numbers a lot of species with fruits with different colours: red, white and black.

Currant world production is concentrated above all in Europe and it concerns specially the black one (also called blackcurrant); this one is generally sold trasformed (jam, juice, etc) so is possible a mechanical picking.
Varieties with red and white fruits are generally consumed as fresh fruit.

Currant, as Giant Blueberry, needs a lot during cold periods and bears compact ground with high PH (5,5 - 7,5).
